In this class\, we offer an entry point into dreaming up and producing a number of personalized aromatherapy body and skin care products that will keep you clean\, fragrant\, and most importantly\, relaxed!! Using natural ingredients\, fragrance oils\, and simple tools and accessories\, you will learn how to produce the following: \n\n\n\n– 1x 4oz jar of body lotion– 2x melt and pour soaps– 2x bath bombs– 2x shower steamers– 1x reed diffuser \n\n\n\nAll processes taught in this class are eco-friendly and safe to do in the kitchen. In addition to all of these items\, each student will also receive molds to re-use for making additional bath bombs\, shower steamers\, and bars of soap at home\, as well as a handout with how-to instructions and sources for some of the harder to find natural skincare ingredients. \n\n\n\nSupplies Needed: None. Supplies for all of these projects are provided in class. \n\nInstructor Bio: Bea Byrne is a maker\, textile artist\, and instructor located in Oakland\, CA. Hailing originally from the UK\, Bea spent time working and teaching in both London and Tokyo before finally landing in the Bay Area. She offers workshops in many areas of the apparel arts (sewing\, quilting\, embroidery\, jewelry making\, and more)\, as well as consults with artists to help them increase their visibility online and to develop new and additional income streams related to their art. In this floral design class\, you’ll build a fresh vase arrangement from scratch using seasonal blooms we personally curate just for you! Expect a beautiful mix of flowers\, foliage\, and textures for your arrangement\, which will be designed to last a week or longer. \n\n\n\nClass will begin with an introduction to the flowers you’ll be using. You’ll learn the names\, why they were chosen\, and how they come together to create a cohesive\, colorful arrangement. Along the way\, we’ll share insider tips on stretching your floral budget\, shopping smarter\, and navigating the iconic SF Flower Market! \n\n\n\nNext\, we’ll walk you through stem processing\, which is the technique of cleaning and prepping your blooms\, so they live longer\, followed by a full demonstration of building a balanced\, structured vase arrangement. For the last part of class\, you’ll receive your own materials and get busy designing your own arrangement with guidance and support throughout the process! Never touched a machine in your life? Wanna brush the cobwebs off that Home Economics class you took back in middle school? Or just want more confidence in approaching your projects? Well come on down! Let us walk you through the basics of using a sewing machine\, cutting fabric\, and following simple sewing patterns. You’ll walk out of class having completed a few simple projects\, and more importantly\, possessing the confidence to continue sewing on your own. This is a stand alone class\, so feel free to take Sewing Bootcamp afterwards to continue honing your craft! \n\n\n\nSupplies Needed: None. We supply all fabric and the machines\, using a simple Janome 2212 that transfers knowledge easily and can be purchased from retailers for around $180. Please don’t bring your own machine. \n \n\nInstructor Bio: Hayley has been sewing since the tender age of three.
