It offers a simple method for creating your own graphics and patterns\, and thankfully only requires a handful of tools and supplies to produce your own prints. In our introduction to block printing workshop\, you will take your own graphic or pattern design\, then learn to transfer it to a Speedy Carve block to produce a linocut stamp. Next\, you will practice printing with water soluble ink and your new stamp as you print your image on a variety of surfaces\, including nice cardstock\, a Moleskine journal\, and even a cotton tote bag! Each student will make one medium block printing stamp and several prints featuring your block print designs to take home. \n\n\n\nSupplies Needed: Please come to class with a design for your stamp already drawn or printed out. Make sure your image is no bigger than 4″x6″. As part of this class\, you will receive one block for your stamp\, as well as one Moleskine Cahier Cardboard Journal\, one cotton tote\, several sheets of nice\, heavy card stock and practice paper for your prints. Also\, students are encouraged to wear clothes they can get grungy since we’ll be working with block print ink. \n\nInstructor Bio: Hayley has been sewing since the tender age of three. A jack of all trades\, Hayley enjoys backpacking as a means of seeing this great big world\, free food\, Dad jokes\, and her lifelong ambition is to pet all of the dogs! \n\nThe rules / important stuff: We have a NO EXCEPTIONS 72 HOUR CANCELLATION policy – this includes cancellation\, re-books\, gift certificates\, moving classes\, etc. For more information on canceling a class\, please read our cancellation policy. All classes are 21+. If any questions\, please email us at info AT workshopsf DOT org. \n\nALL CLASSES TAKE PLACE AT WORKSHOP SF LOCATED AT 1310 HAIGHT STREET UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE TITLE AND LISTING.

DESCRIPTION:GLASS-MOSAICS-S-1200X800-4GLASS-MOSAICS-S-1200X800-3GLASS-MOSAICS-S-1200X800-5GLASS-MOSAICS-S-1200X800-7GLASS-MOSAICS-S-1200X800-6 \n\n \n \n \n \n\nIn this class\, glass mosaic artist Elena Dubocanin will guide you through the basics of glass cutting and image assembling to create your own beautiful glass mosaic! First\, you will receive an overview of mosaic tools and safety\, followed by a tutorial on using glass cutters and following an image pattern to cut your glass. Next\, you’ll choose from a selection of designs such as citrus fruit\, mountain vistas\, colorful fish\, or an abstract pattern. Once your design is complete\, you will learn how to properly grout and finish your piece. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is perfect for beginners who are new to glass art. Each student will leave with their own glass mosaic\, as well as the know-how to keep making glass art at home! \n\n\n\nSupplies Needed: None. All patterns\, tools\, glass\, and other supplies will be provided. Each piece will measure around 8″ X 8″. \n\n\n\nPLEASE NOTE: Though this class is for beginners\, you WILL be working with sharp objects! Working with glass is a lot of fun\, risky at times\, but a perfectly safe craft to practice when proper safety measures are followed. Please wear close-toe shoes and clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. For your safety and protection\, we provide aprons\, latex gloves\, goggles\, and a first aid kit in case of an emergency. \n\n\n\n \n \nInstructor Bio: Elena Dubocanin has been creating glass mosaics for 8+ years\, cultivating a more serious interest over the last five years. Getting her start using scrap glass discarded by other glass artists and repurposing thrifted wooden cutting boards\, tables\, and frames\, Elena now produces custom glass mosaics of all shapes and sizes and is excited to share her experience\, know-how\, and love of glass mosaic art with others. To see Elena’s work\, process\, and inspirations\, visit her on Instagram at @elenamosaics. \n\n\n \n \nThe rules / important stuff: We have a NO EXCEPTIONS 72 HOUR CANCELLATION policy – this includes cancellation\, re-books\, gift certificates\, moving classes\, etc. For more information on canceling a class\, please read our cancellation policy.
